Worth A Try

During football season we typically hosts tailgates at our place. Dare I even say, my sister and I might even be some of the best hosts out there. I mean we don’t charge friends and guests to party, but we usually use the tailgates to our advantage. In other words, we make drinks and new food for everyone to try to see what turned out and makes the books.

I decided to make this specific salad:

The 24 Hour Salad

Ingredients:

6 C shredded lettuce

1/2 C celery, chopped

1/2 C green bell pepper, chopped

1/2 C onions, chopped

1/2 C green peas

1 1/2 C mayonnaise

2 T sugar

2 C Cheddar cheese, shredded

1 (3 ounce) can bacon bits (I used real bacon)

Directions:

1. In a large transparent bowl, layer lettuce, celery, bell peppers, onions, peas, mayonnaise, sugar and cheese. Sprinkle bacon bits evenly over the top of the salad.

2. Cover bowl, and refrigerate for 24 hours before serving.

**When I say this, I was skeptical because of how much mayonnaise it calls for since most of the ingredients are its own layer. It actually came out great.

It tastes better than it sounds. Perfect for tailgates. It’s easy, fast to make, and best of all gluten free.
